PORTRAIT SESSIONs

Environmental Portrait Session

I shoot outdoors in a variety of locations across Hong Kong. Whether you’re looking for an urban edge, a piece of island life or to escape to a forest you didn’t know you could find here, I can help you capture just what you have in mind.

Not sure on locations? Make the most of a complimentary call to discuss what’s possible with your hound or to get some advice if you find yourself a bit overwhelmed by the options.

Sessions typically follow the same four-step process:

PLAN - POSE - PICK - PRINT

“Frankie connected instantly and gave Sandy the space and time to adjust to the new surroundings”

“I wanted to have a memory of her in Hong Kong. I loved Frankie’s work so much that I haven’t even considered anyone else.

I loved how she set up a call first to inform me about the session which really helped me to understand the process of the actual photoshoot.

Frankie didn’t rush us through the process - she was calm and made it easy for Sandy to relax. It’s clear that Frankie understands dogs!”

How it works

Sessions typically follow the same four-step process:

  • Book a complimentary chat - get in touch and let me learn a little more about your dog. Be sure to let me know a good time to call to discuss your ideas in more detail.

I will then contact you via phone to ask you all about yourself, your dog, any preferred location(s), dates / timeframe, and anything else you have questions about! Any important shoot and product information will be forwarded to you following this chat, including an investment guide for additional digital image, print or wall art purchases.

  • Let’s make some memories! We’ll meet for your portrait session at the agreed location and time, where I will give a safety briefing and then get to work on the shoot. Afterwards, I will head back to Hounds HQ and start working on post-production and retouching, creating a collection of images for you to choose your special memories from.

  • Your online gallery reveal session will take place on video call around 2-3 weeks later but a date for this will be set at the portrait session itself. This is when you will see a final gallery from your shoot and choose your images and - if you’d like - opt to create some additional prints or wall art. You get to view sample products of all our offerings and ask as many questions as you like!

  • Depending on the final product(s) selected, your prints or wall art will be prepared and sent for production. If you have selected any digital images, they will be prepared, formatted and sorted accordingly at this stage too. Once your prints, wall art or digital images are ready, they are inspected very thoroughly at Hounds HQ before being delivered to your own home - or directly into your own hands if you opt to collect!

Did you know?

All purchases of additional prints or wall art come with a complimentary screen-resolution digital version of your chosen image!

You can upgrade your fine art matted print into wall art by choosing a premium Sleek Frame add-on.

All our products include complimentary delivery to a Hong Kong address.

 FAQs

Booking

  • I offer all prospective clients a complimentary consultation to help you decide if my services are right for you and your hound, and if so, which option would suit you best. Please send me an email telling me a bit about your pet, make sure to leave a phone number and I will be in contact to set up a call at a time that suits you best!

  • For sure! However, please be aware that photographing multiple dogs in the same session often requires additional time and help. I’m always happy to discuss this during a consultation call and offer you the best advice accordingly. Please note, for planning arrangements, the exact number of dogs must be specified at the time of booking the shoot.

  • A full range of artwork options can be discussed in your consultation if that is what you are looking for. The products offered with starting prices can be viewed on the Product Page and a full product investment guide can be supplied to you before you commit to a booking. However, there is zero obligation to make any additional purchases of prints, digital files or wall art.

  • Bookings are secured in the diary with payment of 100% of the session fee and the returning of a signed contract. Payment can be made via FPS, PayMe or Bank Transfer: details will be provided at the time of booking.

  • Dogs are my preferred subjects but I also love photographing people and other animals too!

  • Of course! Please contact me and let me know a bit more about the recipient and we can take it from there. You can even add some credit to your voucher for the recipient to spend on product.

Session Information

  • Absolutely not! I am very experienced in working with all types of dogs. I recommend dogs be kept on lead too, as this can easily be removed in editing if the lead is attached to a collar. I also conduct the shoots at a relaxed pace with lots of breaks and rewards - this helps keep your dog as happy and chilled as possible.

  • This is more than okay. Safety is my top priority, so having your dog on lead is strongly encouraged. If you’re after the types of images seen in my portfolio, you will notice that most dogs have had their lead and collar edited out in the final images. For this reason, it is recommended that your dog’s lead is attached to a collar and not a harness (at least when we’re shooting, their harness can be popped back on right afterwards) as that makes things easier in retouching.

  • It is not necessary for your dog to know specific tricks, but a good ‘stay’ or ‘sit’ definitely helps. I recommend bringing treats that your dog enjoys, or a favourite toy, as an easy way to grab their attention and reward them frequently.

  • Of course! Most people really want portraits of themselves and their dogs, so this is no problem at all. If you’re unsure of what to wear or how to pose then I can offer lots of help and advice on both. However, if you’d rather only have pictures of your dog without being in them yourself this is more than okay too. It’s totally up to you!

  • In the event of inclement weather within 3 hours of the start of the shoot, we will rearrange the session at your earliest convenience.

After the session

  • Clients really love the experience of viewing their galleries a few weeks after the session. This allows you to wait to see the final gallery before deciding which products you’d like to invest in, if any.

Attending an image reveal appointment allows you to see samples of other printed options such as wall art and fully understand how the finished images will look, along with some professional advice.

There is the option to take advantage of some viewing-exclusive offers should you wish to invest in prints or wall art for your home, but there is absolutely no insistence that you do so at all.

  • The digital image included in ‘The Starter’ is a screen-resolution file and not suitable for printing. However, Digital File Bundles include high resolution files which come with permission to print for personal use.

Please note that Frankie Adamson (sole proprietor of Hounds of Hong Kong) retains the copyright of ALL images created by herself on Hounds of Hong Kong sessions (this includes any and all images licensed to clients for personal use).

  • You’re more than welcome to share images on social media for personal use! We’d also love to be tagged on the photo or caption @houndsofhongkong

However, please do not add any filters or make any additional edits to digital files you have received. If there is something you'd like changing please contact me, the copyright holder, directly.

  • Images are for personal use only, no commercial licenses are given to images received or purchased from our standard portrait sessions. Should you wish to have images for commercial use, such as advertising or brand website / social media content etc., please contact me separately and I’ll be happy to discuss commercial fees and image licensing with you.

  • I’m always grateful for any honest feedback to be left as a Google or Facebook review. This helps me constantly improve and is invaluable in helping others decide if Hounds of Hong Kong is right for them.

“Frankie is wonderful with all dogs and my pup absolutely loves her”

“When I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to take some photos with my first born, my 2 year-old dachshund. I didn’t want the photos to be cliche or awkward, so I knew Frankie was the right person to ask, given not only her professionalism but also her experience with dogs and how classic her photos are.

Frankie talked through all the ideas before the shoot and on the day made it a relaxed, low key and comfortable environment - it felt like a day at the beach with a friend rather than a shoot.

She is wonderful with all dogs and my pup absolutely loves her. Frankie is experienced with all types of photography and tried new things with both me and my pup which ended up being my favourite photos!”
